BRAVES WIN OPENER ON ADCOCK HR; GAME TWO IS WASHED OUT BY RAIN

Milwaukee’s Joe Adcock hit an eighth inning solo homerun off of Tom Cheney(0-4), to snap a 2-2 tie, sending the Braves to a 3-2 win over Pittsburgh, in game one of a double header. The second game was postponed by rain.

Warren Spahn went the distance for Milwaukee, grinding out a complete game victory, while Harvey Haddix took a no decision. It’s been a rough start for Cheney, who is winless in four decisions.

Smokey Burgess and Bill Virdon led the offense with two hits apiece.
