BUCCOS WIN ANOTHER CLOSE ONE WITH CINCINNATI, 2-1
Bob Friend improved to (6-2), as Pittsburgh edged Cincinnati, 2-1. Bill Mazeroski led the way on offense, with three hits, scoring one of the Pirates runs and driving in the other.
Friend went the distance, allowing six hits. A Frank Robinson solo homer in the fourth was the Reds only tally. Maz and Don Hoak hit back to back doubles in the sixth, for what would prove to be the winning run.
Smokey Burgess was hitless, ending an 11 game hit streak.
Pittsburgh is off tomorrow, then heads out on the road, first to Philadelphia.
