JIMMIE COKER’S 2 RUN HOMER SINKS PIRATES IN 3-1 LOSS
Philadelphia backstop, Jimmie Coker broke a 1-1 tie by belting a two run homerun off Vinegar Bend Mizell(5-3), in the last of the fourth, as Pittsburgh fell to the Phillies, 3-2.
The Phillies won despite being held to just four hits. In addition to his homer, Coker also doubled and Tony Curry and Ken Walters each singled.
The Bucs lone run came in the third, when Bob Skinner tripled and scored on a Dick Groat single.
