CARDINALS BEAT VERNON LAW

The St. Louis Cardinals stopped Pittsburgh’s Vernon Law, who drops to (5-2). Law allowed three runs, one unearned, over the first two innings. Ken Boyer homered again, his second of the series for the Cardinals. St. Louis tacked on two more runs later in the game, one each off relievers, Tom Chaney and Joe Gibbon.

Don Hoak(7) was responsible for the Pirates lone run, when he homered to begin the game. The Bucs third sacker has been tried at the top of the lineup and has performed well. He was three for four in this game.

The two teams will play a double header tomorrow.
