ORLANDO CEPEDA’S SOLO HOMER IS DIFFERENCE IN PITCHER’S DUEL
San Francisco defeated Pittsburgh 1-0, on a solo homer by Orlando Cepeda. Sam Jones got credit for the shutout, going the distance, while scattering five hits along the way.
Harvey Haddix(3-3) took the L. He toiled for six innings, with Clem Labine and Joe Gibbon taking the reins the rest of the way.
The Giants only had six hits, but Cepeda’s counted the most.
