1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Replay

June 25. Gm# 63. Forbes Field. Chicago 7 Pittsburgh 2.

ONE STEP FORWARD, TWO BACK; PIRATES LOSE TO CUBS AGAIN

For the second straight day, the Chicago Cubs have beaten the Pittsburgh Pirates. This time they sent Vernon Law(6-3) to the showers after just three and a third, in what was his worst start this season.

Law gave up four runs on five hits in the very first inning, with Ed Bouchee chipping in with a two run triple.

The Bucs would answer right back in the home half of the first. Bob Skinner(6) led off with a homerun, and later in the inning, Bill Virdon also had a two run triple.

However, Chicago would score twice more against Law, before Fred Green relieved him.

Pittsburgh tried to climb back in it on Dick Stuart’s(12th) homer of the season, a two run shot in the bottom of the sixth, but Bouchee doubled and scored again in the seventh, giving the Cubs a two run cushion.

The two teams have a double header to complete the series.

Other National League scores: San Francisco 5 Cincinnati 2; Milwaukee 4 Los Angeles 2; St. Louis 1 Philadelphia 0.
