Bob Friend(9-3) delivered again, tossing a five hit, complete game win as the Buccos took the opening game of a three game series with the Dodgers, by a score of 6-1.

Bob Skinner was 3-4, with a two run double and Dick Stuart poled a two run triple in the win.

The Pirates picked up some ground on Milwaukee, who lost twice to the Cardinals.
