PIRATES SHUT OUT REDS AGAIN; THIS TIME IT TAKES JUST ONE PITCHER
One day after four Pirate pitchers combined to shut out Cincinnati, 2-0; Harvey Haddix(5-5) turned the trick himself, with a four hit, 5-0 whitewash of the Reds.
Haddix struck out six and walked two in the win. Harvey also contributed at the plate, with a double. Hal Smith(2) homered and Dick Stuart had two hits.
The Bucs now head to Philadelphia for a four game series with the Phillies, starting with a doubleheader tomorrow.
