REDS THROTTLE PIRATES FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WIN.
Cincinnati battered Bob Friend(9-5) and the Bucs in an 8-3 rout and the game wasn’t as close as the final score indicated.
Friend left after just three and a third innings, having allowed six runs. The Reds tacked on two more unearned runs in the top of the seventh when Bill Virdon and Don Hoak committed back to back errors.
Milwaukee continues to put Pittsburgh further in the rear view mirror, as they defeated Philadelphia.
The Reds-Pirates series concludes with a double header.
