Bob Friend(10-5) went seven strong, becoming the first Pirate to reach double digit wins and Don Hoak’s three hit day with his (12th) homer; along with three hits from Roberto Clemente, helped Pittsburgh beat the Dodgers, 7-3.

Even better, St. Louis beat Milwaukee, allowing the Bucs to gain a game back in the standings. The team now heads to Candlestick Park to play the Giants for a three game set.
