1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Replay

WED, AUGUST 10TH, 1960. GM #’S 105-106. FORBES FIELD. PITTSBURGH 6, 4 CHICAGO 1, 2

Pittsburgh beat up on the last place Chicago Cubs, winning both games of a two game set. They took the opener, 6-1, behind Vernon Law(11-4), who went seven strong. Roberto Clemente led the offense with a double and two singles and also scored twice. The second contest was a bit closer, but the Bucs pulled it out, 4-2, behind Bob Friend(12-6), who becomes the teams wins leader. Smokey Burgess had three hits, Dick Groat and Dick Stuart, two each.
