TUES, SEPT 27. GM# 112. FORBES FIELD, PITTSBURGH
The Pirates must have done a little too much celebrating after clinching the National League pennant on Sunday. The Cincinnati Reds came into town on Tuesday and tied a Stratball record for runs scored in a game by hanging 17 on the Pirates, in a 17-2 pasting.
Eddie Kasko led the 22 hit attack by having a career day. Kasko hit two homeruns, two doubles and a single. He scored four runs and drove in four. Meanwhile on the mound, Bob Purkey was having his way, holding Pittsburgh to just four hits.
Harvey Haddix(13-7) took the loss in likely his final start of the season. Haddix and Tom Cheney each had a single and Geno Cimoli had two hits.
The Braves and Pirates will close out the season with the final three games at Forbes Field.
