1972 Chicago White Sox Replay

SERIES # 8. TWO GAMES. SPLIT SERIES. DETROIT VS CHICAGO

The White Sox returned to Comiskey Park and split a two game series with the Detroit Tigers. Both games were close, one run affairs. The Tigers won the first game, 2-1, in ten innings, with a Bill Melton error leading to the game winning tally. Terry Forster(0-2) was tagged with the loss. Carlos May hit his (4th) homerun.

Chicago snatched victory from defeat in the second game by scoring three times in the bottom of the eighth inning, to pull out a 4-3, come from behind win. Again, an error, this time by Detroit’s Aurelio Rodriguez, was crucial in the outcome. Bill Melton(4) homered and Vincente Romo(1-0) was the winning pitcher.

Next series: 3 games vs Baltimore.
