SERIES #12. THREE GAMES, WON 2 OUT OF 3. CHICAGO AT TEXAS
The White Sox kicked off a road trip by taking two out of three games against the Texas Rangers. They lost the opener, 5-4, then won the next two games, 5-2 and 3-0. The Pale Hose put up a four run inning in each of the first two games. Chicago trailed the Rangers, 5-0 in the first and put up a four spot in the top of the ninth, but the rally fell one run short. Dave Lemonds(2-1) fell in relief.
In the second contest, Chicago trailed, 2-1, when the scored four times in the top of the eighth, for a 5-2 comeback win. Wilbur Wood(2-1) collected his first complete game of the year, scattering five hits, while striking out seven. Dick Allen hit his (15th) homerun.
The last game of the series saw Tom Bradley(5-1) and Vincente Romo combine to shutout Texas, 3-0. Starter Bradley worked six innings, and while he kept the Rangers off the scoreboard, three times they got a runner to third base. On a hunch, Bradley was relieved by Romo, who allowed two baserunners in two innings, one on a single, the other on a hit by pitch, but he too, prevented any scoring.
The next series will be three games against against the Oakland A’s at the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum.
