1972 Chicago White Sox Replay

SERIES #16. TWO GAMES, SPLIT SERIES. BOSTON VS CHICAGO

The skidding White Sox turned to their ace, Tom Bradley(7-2), to end a five game losing streak. He did so brilliantly, stopping the Boston Red Sox with a 4 hit shutout. That 5-0 win was Chicago’s first in six games. Boston won the first game of the set, 5-2. Wilbur Wood(4-2) took the loss in that game, the big blow was a three run clout by Carlton Fisk. Jorge Orta(3) drilled a pinch hit homer in the bottom of the fifth.

Bradley struck out five and walked two in his win. Ed Herrmann(8) hit a two run homer and also doubled in game two.

The hard charging Oakland A’s are now tied for first place with Chicago.

The White Sox now welcome the Milwaukee Brewers to Comiskey Park for a four game series.
