SERIES #31. TWO GAMES, LOST BOTH. CHICAGO AT MINNESOTA
Chicago dropped both games in a short, two game series at Minnesota against the Twins. The first game was close, a 4-3 loss, the second; a 9-1 blowout defeat. That puts the White Sox 3.5 games behind the Oakland A’s in the A.L. West.
Eddie Fisher(8-6), was tagged for four runs in 4.2 innings in game one, as Chicago fell behind early and couldn’t recover. Fisher has lost his last three starts. Eric Soderholm homered and Danny Thompson had three hits for the Twins. For Chicago, Rich Morales tripled and Mike Andrews had a double.
The Twins put up four run innings against starter, Stan Bahnsen(9-4) and finisher, if you will, Terry Forster. The latter was basically an innings eater at that point. Cy Acosta managed to allow a run in the middle of the debacle, which ended, 9-1 in favor of Minnesota. The Twins hit parade looked like this: Cesar Tovar: 3-5, 3RS; Thompson: 3-5, 2RS; Steve Braun: 3-4, 3B, 2RS, 3RBI; Bobby Darwin: 4-5, HR, RS, 2RBI. Oh, and Harmon Killebrew had a triple.
Let’s hope things improve as the team returns home to take on the California Angels.
