1972 Chicago White Sox Replay

SERIES #37. ONE GAME. LOST. CHICAGO AT BALTIMORE.

The White Sox flew to Baltimore to play the Orioles in just one game, before they head back home to face the Boston Red Sox. Unfortunately, Chicago lost the game, 3-1. The Oakland A’s were idle, thereby gaining a half game lead on the Sox.

Dave Lemonds started and despite allowing eight hits over five innings, was tagged for just one run. The loss was really the fault of reliever, Steve Kealey(2-4), who, without getting a single out in the sixth inning, surrendered a two run homer to Don Baylor, a double to Davey Johnson and two walks. Chicago’s lone run came on a solo homerun from Ed Herrmann(13), in the eighth inning.
