RESULTS OF APRIL 25.

Peaches 5 Clippers 4; Peaches 9 Clippers 8 The Peaches took both ends of a doubleheader against the Clippers. Both games were close. Eddie Collins hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth, scoring Wildfire Schulte, with what would be the eventual winning run. Christy Mathewson started game one for the Peaches, but it was Vern Gregg(1-0), who notched the win in relief. Hal Newhauser(1-1) was the losing pitcher in the 5-4 opener. Wildfire Schulte(2); Lou Gehrig(1) and Jackie Robinson(2) hit homeruns. In the second game, the Peaches headed into the seventh inning with a 9-2 lead, then barely held on, as the Clippers tallied a run in the seventh and five more in the eighth, only to fall one run short. WP-Three Finger Brown(1-0) LP-Howie Pollett(0-1). HR-Birdie Cree(1); Ted Williams(6), Stan Musial(6).

Terrifics 9 Mad Dogs 5; Terrifics 7 Mad Dogs 0 Like the Peaches, the Terrifics also swept their twinbill and had a much easier time of it. In the first game, the team headed into the ninth with a 7-5 advantage, then got a two run cushion, courtesy of a Mike Schmidt homer. Once again, relievers got credit for the decisions. WP-Jim Palmer(1-0) LP-Pedro Martinez(0-1). HR-Larry Bowa(1), Mike Schmidt(3). Ferguson Jenkins’ four hit shutout, was the highlight of game two. George Foster helped out with a two homer, four rbi day. WP-Ferguson Jenkins(1-0) LP-Al Leiter(0-1). HR-George Foster 2(2), Johnny Bench(3).

Naturals 10 Sultans 1 In the days biggest blowout, the last place Naturals poured it on offensively and demolished the Sultans, 10-1. Miguel Cabrera joined the three homeruns in one game club, with a two run blast in the first inning: a three run clout in the fourth and a solo homerun in the ninth, to finish with six runs batted in on the day. Max Scherzer got the complete game win. Robinson Cano was injured for the Naturals and will be out until May 4th. WP-Scherzer(2-0) LP-Lefty Williams(0-2). HR- Cabrera 3(7), Tulowitski(2).

Hammers 5 Comets 4. Ernie Banks’ two homeruns were not enough, as the Hammers edged the Comets by a score of 5-4. Brooks Robinson hit a clutch, two run homer in the bottom of the eighth, to put the Comets in front to stay. Things continue to go poorly for Sandy Koufax. He allowed two runs to score on wild pitches. WP-Jim Maloney(1-0) LP-Billy Pierce(0-1). HR-Ernie Banks 2(3); Bill Mazeroski(1), Brooks Robinson(2).
