Terrifics 11 Clippers 4. The Terrifics belted four homers in an 11-4 rout of the Clippers. However, the hit totals; 14, were the same for both teams, but the Clippers left a dozen men stranded on the basepaths. George Foster hit his first two homers of the season for the Terrifics. Mad Dogs 4 Hammers 3. The Mad Dogs scored four runs off of Bob Veale in the first inning, then held on, while the Hammers chipped away. They scored a run in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the ninth, but they couldn’t close the deal and fell a run short. WP-Tom Glavine(1-1) LP-Bob Veale(0-1). HR-Willie Mays(7); Ken Griffey, Jr.(4).
Naturals 3 Peaches 2. In this fourteen inning marathon, the Nationals pulled it out, when Troy Tulowitski singled in Miguel Cabrera, in the bottom of the 14th, off Walter Johnson. Starters, Ed Walsh and Clayton Kershaw worked deep in the game, but with the score knotted at 2, the game fell into the hands of the bullpen. Vean Gregg pitched four scoreless innings in relief, but in the end, Mark Melancon got the W. for the Naturals. WP- Mark Melancon(1-0) LP-Walter Johnson(1-2). HR-Joey Votto(2).
