Sultans 5 Comets 3. Trailing 3-0 after seven innings, the Sultans exploded for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Roger Hornsby’s big, three run homer, his first of the year, highlighted the comeback inning. The Comets three runs all came as a result of homeruns in the top of the sixth inning. WP-Wilbur Cooper(1-0) LP-Warren Spahn(2-2). HR-Clete Boyer(2), Mickey Mantle(9), Ernie Banks(5); Rogers Hornsby(1).
Clippers 7 Terrifics 3. Jimmie Foxx joins Miguel Cabrera as the only players in the Legends League to homer three times in a game. Cabrera turned the trick on April 25th against the Sultans. In this game, Foxx homered in the first, fifth and seventh innings. The first two came against starter, Bob Gibson, the last against Fergie Jenkins, out of the bullpen. The win ended a four game skid for the Clippers. WP-Dizzy Dean(2-1) LP-Bob Gibson(2-2). HR-Jimmie Foxx 3(7), Ted Williams(7)
Naturals 6 Peaches 3. Rube Waddell was sailing along with a 3-0 lead, when the wheels came off in the eighth. Waddell loaded the bases on a single and two walks, then Heinie Zimmerman, just called up, made an error. When the dust cleared, the Naturals had scored five runs. WP-Koji Uehara(1-0) LP-Rube Waddell(1-2).
These were the only games scheduled. The April 30 schedule will be posted soon.
