Terrifics 4, Peaches 1. Christy Mathewson and Steve Carlton each pitched into the ninth inning, to a 1-1 tie, when Graig Nettles pinch hit for Lefty, with two aboard in the last of the ninth. Nettles stunned Big Six, with a three run, pinch hit, game winning homer, to stun the Peaches. WP-Steve Carlton(3-0). LP-Christy Mathewson(2-2). HR-Graig Nettles(1).

Sultans 5 Hammers 4. With the score tied, 4-4, relief pitcher, Billy O’Dell, plunked Sultans shortstop, Ray Chapman with a pitch. Chapman had to leave the game, with Joe Sewell pinch running. A passed ball which got by Del Crandall, moved Sewell to second and then Sewell scored on a George Sisler single, putting the Sultans ahead to stay. Babe Ruth for the Sultans and Elston Howard of the Hammers, each had the day off. WP-Burleigh Grimes(2-0). LP-Billy O’Dell(1-3). Clippers 5 Naturals 4. The Clippers scored twice in the top of the ninth, when Koji Uehara stumbled, allowing a walk, single and a double. Now leading, 5-2, the Clippers held on in the bottom of the ninth, as Red Ruffing gave up a single, then a two run homerun to Mike Trout. Ruffing regrouped and set down Joey Votto, Miguel Cabrera and Yasil Puig. WP-Red Ruffing(2-2). LP-Koji Uehara(1-1). HR-Ted Williams(11); Mike Trout(1).

Mad Dogs 6 Comets 3. Ken Griffey Jr. joined Miguel Cabrera and Jimmie Foxx as a member of the three homeruns in one game club, as he belted three homers and a double against the Comets. Griffey hit a two run blast in the first, then had solo homeruns in the second and fourth innings. The win was the fifth straight for the Mad Dogs. WP-David Wells(2-1). LP-Whitey Ford(3-1).
