MAY 16 DOUBLE HEADER RECAPS

As every team is playing a doubleheader today, I’ll post the recaps one at a time.

Clippers 11 Naturals 4. The red hot Clippers demolished the Naturals in the first of two games at Naturals Park. Starter, Jon Lester was sent packing after just two innings as the Clippers rolled to an 11-4 win. Jimmie Foxx, the league’s rbi leader, added to his total with six more runs batted in. He homered, doubled twice and scored three runs. Lou Gehrig had a homerun and a double and knocked in four runs, while Stan Musial drove in the final run with a solo homer. Jackie Robinson was also great from the lead off spot, getting on base four out of five times and scoring three runs. WP-Mel Parnell(3-3). LP-Jon Lester(2-4). HR- Jimmie Foxx(10), Lou Gehrig(6), Stan Musial(8); Alex Gordon(1).

Clippers 4 Naturals 2. The Clippers made it six straight wins, getting a 4-2 victory from their B squad, to complete the twinbill sweep. Ralph Kiner and Bill Dickey both homered. Dickey is trying his best to uproot Elston Howard from the first team, as he now has three homers in limited action. Bob Feller earned his first complete game win, beating Adam Wainwright, who went seven innings. Feller allowed two hits(one unearned), on six hits, with ten strikeouts. WP-Bob Feller(2-0).
