MAY 16. DOUBLE HEADER RECAPS
Peaches 6 Terrifics 5. These two clubs split their double header, with the Peaches taking game one, 6-5. Eddie Plank started for the Peaches and went six and two thirds, but Three Finger Brown won it in relief. The Terrifics scored three runs in the top of the seventh, to take a 5-4 lead, but the Peaches answered right away, when they plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Terrifics had the tying run on in the top of the ninth, with one out, but pinch hitter Gregg Nettles hit into a game ending double play. WP-Three Finger Brown(2-1). LP-Sparky Lyle(2-1). HR-Joe Morgan(5), Mike Schmidt(10).
Terrifics 2 Peaches 1. The Terrifics got even in the second game, edging the Peaches, 2-1, behind John Candeleria. He worked out of several jams and though he allowed eight hits, only one run was scored off him. Walter Johnson started for the Peaches and pitched well, but his defense let him down. A Stuffy McInnis error led to the Terrifics second run of the game, in the sixth inning, and that would prove to be the game winner. WP-John Candeleria(1-1). LP-Walter Johnson(3-4).
