HANK AARON RETURNS FROM D.L. TO SINGLE HANDEDLY BEAT PEACHES
MIGUEL CABRERA STUNS TERRIFICS WITH WALKOFF GRAND SLAM
Hammers 6 Peaches 4. In his first day back from a 14 day stint on the disabled list, the Hammers’ Hank Aaron belted two homeruns, including a three run blast in the bottom of the ninth, to defeat the Peaches, 6-4. Aaron put the Hammers on his back, to defeat a Peaches team which had won six in a row. WP-Jim Maloney(3-0). LP-Chief Bender(3-2). HR-Hank Aaron 2(5).
Naturals 5 Terrifics 2. The Naturals’ Steve Carlton was heading for a shutout, when he stumbled in the last of the ninth. He surrendered a single and two walks, before a Paul Goldschmidt sacrifice fly made it a 2-1 game. The Terrifics stayed with Lefty, who then walked Mike Trout, to reload the bases. He fanned Joey Votto and Rich Gossage came in to pitch to Miguel Cabrera. On the first pitch from Gossage, Miggy sent one flying, for a game winning, grand slam homer. It was his second grand slam on the season and vaults him into the league lead for homeruns as well. Mark Melancon, who is undefeated in relief, pitched the final two frames. WP-Mark Melancon(5-0). LP-Steve Carlton(5-2). HR-Miguel Cabrera(16) gs.
