PEACHES TUMBLE TO 9TH STRAIGHT LOSS

COMETS HOLD OFF TERRIFICS IN 4-3 WIN

DEAN LEADS FIRST PLACE CLIPPERS TO EASY WIN

Hammers 4 Naturals 0 Sandy Koufax has had his share of struggles this season, but he recently had one of the best outings any pitcher has had this year. Koufax beat the Naturals, 4-0, allowing just one hit, becoming just the fifth Stratball pitcher to perform that feat. Only a scratch single by Bryce Harper kept Koufax from a no hittter. Brooks Robinson, who had only two homeruns entering this game, belted two, to lead the offense. WP-Sandy Koufax(2-5). LP-Jon Lester(2-6). HR-Brooks Robinson 2(4), Willie McCovey(8).

Mad Dogs 4 Peaches 1 Despite outhitting the Mad Dogs, 11-8, the Peaches dropped their ninth straight decision, in a 4-1 loss. Mark McGwire clubbed his league leading, twentieth homerun for the Mad Dogs. WP-David Wells(4-4). LP-Christy Mathewson(3-2). HR-Mark McGwire(20).

Comets 4 Terrifics 3 A two run homer by Johnny Bench in the bottom of the eighth, brought the Terrifics to within one, but they could not come any closer and lost to the Comets, 4-3. Mickey Mantle, Ernie Banks and Nellie Fox all had two hit days. WP-Bob Lemon(4-3). LP-Bob Gibson(5-5). HR-Mickey Mantle(18); Johnny Bench(9).

Clippers 9 Sultans 1 Dizzy Dean continues to have a great season. In seven innings of work, he limited the Sultans to three hits, as the Clippers pounded the Sultans, 9-1. WP-Dizzy Dean(8-2). LP- C. Mays(3-3). HR-Jimmie Foxx(13), Joe DiMaggio(8).
