The Clippers(5 straight losses) and the Mad Dogs(2 straight losses) both lost, so things remain the same at the top of the standings. Today’s games featured two blowouts and two one run games. Pudge Rodriguez was hit by a Juan Marichal pitch and will miss the next four games. He will be replaced by Mike Piazza.

Peaches 9 Naturals 3 The Peaches had a pretty easy time of it, defeating the Naturals, 9-3. The Peaches banged out seven extra base hits, including two doubles by Nap Lajoie and a double and a triple by Honus Wagner. Miguel Cabrera had a nice game in defeat, going 3-4, with a homerun. WP-Christy Mathewson(5-2). LP- Jon Lester(3-7). HR-Miguel Cabrera(20).
Sultans 4 Comets 3 Joe Jackson belted a two run, triple in the bottom of the eighth, to push the Sultans past the Comets, 4-3. WP-Urban Shocker(1-4). LP-Billy Pierce(0-4). HR-Ken Boyer(7), Mickey Mantle(17).
Terrifics 7 Clippers 1 Reggie Jackson’s three run homer was the big blow in the Terrifics’ 7-1 victory over the Clippers. Johnny Bench also went deep for the Terrifics. Bob Gibson had a shutout going into the eighth inning, before Ted Williams spoiled it with a solo blast. WP-Bob Gibson(6-5). LP-Dizzy Dean(8-4). HR-Ted Williams(20); Johnny Bench(12), Reggie Jackson(13).
Hammers 6 Mad Dogs 5 Bill Mazeroski singled in the go ahead run in the form of Frank Robinson, in the top of the ninth, as the Hammers edged the Mad Dogs, 6-5. Robinson had a great day at the dish, with two doubles and single, scoring three times. Ken Griffey Jr. and Roberto Alomar led the Mad Dogs offense. Griffey, Jr. went 3-4, with two doubles and a triple. Alomar, not normally a power threat, smacked a pair of homers. As mentioned, Pudge Rodriguez will be on the shelf for a few games.
