JUNE 14 NEWS In the only game on the slate, the Comets ended a four game losing skid by pounding the Sultans, 9-4, in a 23 hit attack.

RECAP: Comets 9 Sultans 4 Mickey Mantle was 4-6, with a pair of homeruns; Carl Furillo was 3-5; Gil Hodges went 3-5, with a homer and a double; Nellie Fox went 4-5, with two doubles. Even pitcher Robin Roberts got into the act, with two hits and a run scored. Babe Ruth hit a late, eighth inning, three run homerun, tying him with Mark McGwire for the league lead, but the game was all but decided by then.
