Clippers 12 Terrifics 4. The Clippers put up a seven spot in the sixth inning, enroute to a 12-4 thrashing of the Terrifics. Four of the runs were charged to starter, Steve Carlton, while the other three were marked to Steve Blass. Joe DiMaggio’s grand slam was the highlight of the big inning. Hammers 5 Mad Dogs 3. The last place Hammers ended a five game losing streak by defeating the Mad Dogs, 5-3. The loss knocks the Mad Dogs back to second place, a game back of the Clippers. Comets 8 Sultans 2. Sultan’s hurler, Lefty Williams’ time in the league may be short lived. He dropped his eighth start in a row, against zero wins. The Comets tagged Lefty for five, first inning runs, including homeruns by Mickey Mantle and Norm Siebern. Nellie Fox was tried at the top of the order and went 3-5. Peaches 4 Naturals 2. The Peaches beat the Naturals, 4-2. That is their third straight win, while the Nats have lost three in a row.
