Rube Waddell earned his first shutout win for the Peaches, as he led his club to a 1-0 victory over the Hammers. Waddell allowed just three hits, with four strikeouts and three walks. The game’s lone run came in the bottom of the second. Sherry Magee drew a one out walk off Juan Marichal. Frank Baker then doubled, putting runners on second and third. The Hammers elected to play back and Hal Chase’s grounder to second was enough to score Magee. WP-Rube Waddell(4-6). LP-Juan Marichal(4-4).

Sultans 12 Mad Dogs 9 SULTANS SCORE 10 RUNS IN BOTTOM OF 9TH IN STUNNING COMEBACK WIN

The Sultans were on life support, trailing 9-2, with one out in the bottom of the ninth, before embarking on a record setting comeback win. In a nutshell, Mad Dogs starter David Wells allowed a three run homerun to Rogers Hornsby; Billy Wagner then gave up a double and two singles to the three batters he faced. He was also charged with three runs. For the finale, Mariano Rivera managed to get the second out of the inning, before coughing up three straight singles and a walkoff, three run homerun by Tris Speaker.

The seven run comeback was the most in Stratball history and the 10 runs were the most scored by a team in that inning. WP-Urban Shocker(2-6). LP-Mariano Rivera(3-3). HR-Sammy Sosa(18), Barry Bonds(11), Ivan Rodriguez(4); Rogers Hornsby(10), Tris Speaker(3).
