TWIN BILL TALES JUNE 18, CON’T
HAMMERS COMPLETE THIRD DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP TODAY
Hammers 5 Terrifics 2
Hank Aaron led the offense for the Hammers, with a three hit day, including his 24th homerun and Willie Mays and Brooks Robinson chipped in with two hits each, as the Hammers took the A game, 5-2, over the Terrifics. Reggie Jackson had a particularly miserable game. He went 0-4, with three strikeouts and also committed a two base error. WP-Larry Jackson(7-6). LP-Rich Gossage(2-4). HR-Hank Aaron(24).
Hammers 3 Terrifics 2
Sloppy fielding cost the Terrifics in the B game, allowing the Hammers to sneak past the Terrifics, 3-2, to complete the sweep. Rennie Stennett, Jim Rice and Dave Concepcion all committed errors. Stennett’s offense was up to par and then some, however. He was a perfect 4-4 at the plate, with a run scored. WP-Sam McDowell(3-3). LP-John Candeleria(2-3).
