Mickey Lolich picked up his fourth complete game win of the year, as the Terrifics got by the Hammers, 3-1. Lolich also singled and scored a run and Garry Maddox went deep for just the fourth time. WP-Mickey Lolich(7-4). LP-Don Drysdale(3-11).

What began as a pitcher’s duel between Warren Spahn and Jon Lester, ended with the Comets getting to Jonathan Papelbon for 4 runs in the top of the 12th inning, as the Comets defeated the Nats, 5-1.
Spahn got the Comets on the board first with a solo homerun in the top of the seventh, however, in the bottom of the ninth, Mike Trout, still facing Spahn, hit a leadoff double. Spahnie retired the next two batters, but Yasiel Puig hit an rbi single, tying the game.
In the top of the twelfth, Paplelbon issued a leadoff walk to pinch hitter, Ed Mathews. Mickey Mantle fanned, but Gil Hodges and Ernie Banks both singled, putting the Comets up one run. Norm Siebern then put the game away with a three run clout. WP-Elroy Face(4-4). LP-Jonathan Papelbon(0-2). HR-Norm Siebern(19), Warren Spahn(1).
The win snaps a six game losing skid by the Comets, while a four game win streak ends for the Naturals.

PEACHES STOP LOSING STREAK WITH DOUBLE HEADER SWEEP OF SULTANS
Eddie Plank earned his first complete game win of the season, turning back the Sultans, 6-1, in the first of two games at Sultans’ Park. The Peaches had previously dropped five games in a row. Hal Chase led the offense with three hits, while Wagner and Magee hit homers. WP-Eddie Plank(5-4). LP-L.Williams(1-12). HR-Honus Wagner(11), Sherry Magee(18).
In the second game, the B team had an easy time of it, winning, 8-3. Vean Gregg was on the cusp of a shutout, but faltered in the ninth and the Sultans collected three tallies. Birdie Cree and Nap Lajoie had three hits each and also scored two runs each. WP-Vean Gregg(4-4). LP-Urban Shocker(2-8).
