The Hammers defeated the Naturals, 5-3. Frank Robinson(20) belted a pair of homeruns and Willie Mays(34) added one. Bob Veale went seven innings for the win, beating Clayton Kershaw. This despite walking eight batters.

A six game losing streak came to an end, as the Terrifics won a 4-2 decision against the Comets. Reggie Jackson(20) and Joe Morgan(16) went deep for the visitors, while Ted Kluzewski hit a pinch hit, solo blast in the bottom of the eighth, for the Comets.

Mad Dogs 7 Peaches 2
Mark McGwire’s four hits, including his(33rd) homerun led the way, as the Mad Dogs overwhelmed the Peaches, 7-2. Ivan Rodriguez also had four hits, including two doubles. Ken Griffey(38) and Sammy Sosa(26) also hit homers. Tom Glavine grinded for seven innings to earn win #13.

Clippers 3 Sultans 2
Bob Feller survived some ninth inning drama, as the Clippers held on for a 3-2 win over the Sultans. Feller gave up a lead off double to Rogers Hornsby in the top of the ninth, then walked Babe Ruth. Ray Chapman then hit into a twin killing, with Hornsby having to stop at third base. George Sisleer then flew out to centerfield to end the threat. Hornsby(17) was the man for the Sultans, slamming a pair of homeruns along with his two bagger. Lou Gehrig’s(31) solo shot in the bottom of the eighth, proved to be the game winner.
