Mad Dogs 10 Comets 3
The Mad Dogs destroyed the Comets, 10 to 3, banging out 18 hits along the way. The Clippers also lost, cutting their lead over the second place Mad Dogs to just 1.5 games. The Mad Dogs have won four in a row. Ken Griffey, Jr.(40) belted a pair of homeruns, two of six hit by the winning team. Bonds, Sosa and A-Rod each had three hits. Along with Griffey, homeruns were hit by McGwire(34), I. Rodriguez(12), A. Rodriguez(24), Polanco(5). For the Comets, long balls were hit by, Campanella(14) and Boyer(12). Greg Maddux(10-8) earned the win, while it was another disappointing loss for Warren Spahn(3-14).
Hammers 2 Terrifics 1
Luis Aparicio stroked a two run double in the bottom of the second, then the Hammers held off the Terrifics, who could only manage to plate one run in the sixth inning. Sandy Koufax(6-13) struck out nine in seven innings, while Larry Jackson closed out the final two innings. Between them they allowed just three hits. Mickey Lolich(7-6), took the loss.
Naturals 10 Clippers 9
This game set a new house record for total homeruns in one game, as the Nats and Clippers combined for 9 home runs. It is also the first game in which a player from each team hit two homeruns. Mike Trout’s(15), two run clout in the top of the ninth proved to be the game winner, in the Nats, 10-9 win.
Other homers for the Naturals were hit by: Puig 2(13), Tulowitski(13), Cano(14). The Clippers had the following players send balls over the fence: Boudreau 2(4), Gehrig(33), T. Williams(34). Winning Pitcher: Papelbon(1-3), Losing Pitcher: L. Gomez(4-7).
Peaches 8 Sultans 7
The Peaches held off the Sultans, 8-7, in yet another slugfest. Babe Ruth clubbed his league leading,(42) home run and George Sisler(13) also smacked one out. Sisler had three hits and scored three times. Three Finger Brown(5-5) snagged the win, while perennial loser, L. Williams(2-12), dropped another decision.
