MARICHAL SPINS 4TH SHUTOUT FOR HAMMERS IN 4-0 WIN OVER COMETS

Juan Marichal was top of his game, with a 4 hit whitewash, against the Comets. The loss stops a 3 game win streak for the Comets. Hank Aaron(35) belted a homerun for the winning team. WP-Marichal(9-6). LP-Lemon(9-9).

MAD DOGS TAKE PAIR FROM TERRIFICS; 5-4 AND 5-2

The Mad Dogs moved to within one half game of the Clippers, as they swept both games of a double header against the Terrifics. Kevin Brown(5-4) won the opener, getting homers from Mark McGwire(38) and Sammy Sosa(27). Tom Seaver(9-13) took the loss, with Reggie Jackson(31) homering in defeat.

Ken Griffey Jr.(43) helped out by playing centerfield in the B game and in doing so, smashed a pair of homeruns. He has now passed Babe Ruth for the Legends League home run lead. Jim Rice(7) parked one for the Terrifics. Al Leiter(3-6) collected the win. John Candeleria(2-4) took the L.

NATURALS RUN WIN STREAK TO 5 STRAIGHT WITH TWINBILL SWEEP

An 11-0, Justin Verlander shutout, his second of the year and an eleven inning, 2-1 win in the B game, was the story for the Naturals, who have won five straight games. The Sultans, in contrast, have dropped five in a row. In the A game, Miguel Cabrera(36) smacked two homers, while Yasiel Puig(14) and Bryce Harper(11) each hit one. The losing pitching in game one, was Carl Mays(8-10).

The Nats won the B game in eleven innings. Buster Posey, who drove in both of his teams runs, singled in Alex Gordon, with the go ahead run in the top of the eleventh. Aldrois Chapman(3-3), then shut the Sultans down in their final at bats. Urban Shocker(2-9) was the losing pitcher.
