SULTANS SNAP 5 GAME SKID. RUTH TIES GRIFFEY, JR. WITH 43RD BLAST

Herb Pennock pitched seven strong innings to help the Sultans get back on track after dropping their previous five games straight. Babe Ruth(43) homered in the 4-2 victory over the Terrifics, tying him with Ken Griffey, Jr. of the Mad Dogs for the league lead. George Foster(32) went deep for the Terrifics. WP-Pennock(9-9). LP-Gibson(10-9).

COBB’S 9TH INNING ERROR COST PEACHES IN 4-3 LOSS TO COMETS

The Peaches scored three runs in the top of the ninth and looked poised for victory however, a Mickey Mantle(37) solo homerun and a Ty Cobb two base error, led to two runs in the bottom of the ninth, giving the Comets the 4-3 win. After Cobb booted an easy chance off the bat of Roy Campenella, Carl Furillo doubled him in with the game winner. WP-Score(1-3). LP-Brown(5-6).

TROUT WALKOFF HR EXTENDS NATURALS WIN STREAK TO 6 GAMES

Mike Trout(17) belted a game winning homerun in the bottom of the ninth, as the Comets won for the sixth straight time.
