GOING’S ON IN THE LEAGUE

As the season winds down, the Mad Dogs and Clippers were on opposite sides of a blowouts. The Mad Dogs pasted the Comets’, 10-0, with Greg Maddux collecting his third shutout of the season. Meanwhile, the Clippers dropped even further back, by losing, 11-2, to the Naturals. Max Scherzer picked up his 16th victory and is now second in the league in wins.

There is also a tight battle to be the final team in the first division. Both the Peaches and Terrifics are tied for fourth place, each with a winning pct of .477. However, the Peaches, who have held the last spot in the first division for some time, have dropped four straight, whereas the Terrifics have won their last four.

In the individual races, the homerun chase is the tightest race. Babe Ruth and Ken Griffey, Jr. are deadlocked with 47 each. Mark McGwire is in second place with 43. There are currently 7 players with 40 or more homers, along with a couple more who are knocking at the door. Ty Cobb has the batting title locked up. The only question is whether or not he can exceed the .400 mark. He currently sits at .401.
