SCORES:

Mad Dogs 4 Peaches 3 12 inn

Mad Dogs 10 Peaches 1

Though the Mad Dogs had already clinched, they put a dominant finish on the season by sweeping the Peaches in the year’s last double header. They won the opener in 12 innings, when pinch hitter, Robin Ventura singled in Barry Bonds with the winning run, in a 4-3 victory. Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa and Rafael Palmiero each homered. WP-Pedro Martinez(9-5). LP-Pete Alexander(4-5).

The B game was an absolute blowout, as the Mad Dogs crushed the Peaches, 10-1. Not only did they smash four homeruns(Palmerio, Belle, Piazza, Ventura), but Kevin Brown earned a complete game win. WP-Kevin Brown(11-5). LP-Vean Gregg(5-7).

Terrifics 6 Comets 0

Tom Seaver ended his, for him, disappointing season, with a shutout. He pitched complete games in his final two starts and in his final one, got the whitewash against the Comets, 6-0. George Foster homered for the winners. WP-Tom Seaver(11-14). LP-Whitey Ford(11-9).

Hammers 7 Naturals 2

Roger Maris had a two run, pinch hit homer in the top of the ninth and Willie McCovey and Bill Mazeroski also went deep, as the Hammers, despite their dismal record, ended on a high note by defeating the Naturals, 7-2. WP-Juan Marichal(11-8). LP-Clayton Kershaw(11-12).

I’ll list the Award winners and Stat leaders, as well as putting a final bow on the season, soon.
