DERON JOHNSON LEADS PHILS TO 4-3 WIN IN LAST GAME OF SERIES
Philadelphia first baseman, Deron Johnson had a home run, two singles and scored two of his team’s four runs, as the Phillies took the final game in their most recent series with Pittsburgh, by a score of 4-3.
Bob Moose and the Bucs fell into an early hole, when the Phillies loaded the bases in the first inning and Roger Freed singled in two runs. Johnson’s blast in the bottom of the fifth added two more to the ledger. The Pirates got a home run from Bob Robertson(4) and a pair of doubles from Willie Stargell, but ultimately, fell a run short. WP-Fryman. LP-Moose(0-2).
Only one other game in the N.L. East was able to be played. St. Louis defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-1. Both the Chicago-San Diego game and the New York-Montreal game was postponed due to rain.
The Pirates have a scheduled day off on April 15th. They then travel to Shea Stadium in New York City, to take on the Mets in a four-game series.
