GM #24 MAY 2, 1971 VS SAN DIEGO PADRES
PIRATES COMPLETE SWEEP OF PADRES WITH 13-4 ROUT
The Pittsburgh Pirates have won a lucky seven in a row, sweeping the last two teams they have played. The San Diego Padres were the latest victims and the Bucs ended this series with a 13-4 demolishing of the Friars.
Steve Arlin got an early shower, courtesy of the Bucs as they put up a five spot in the very first inning. They would add three more in the third and four more in the fourth, before a single run in the fifth, ended the scoring.
Dave Cash had four hits; Manny Sanguillen, three. Bob Robertson(8) takes sole possession of the team home run lead, by belting his eighth, a two-run shot, in the fourth inning. Gene Alley(2) also went deep. Dock Ellis improves to (3-0).
