JUAN MARICHAL ENDS PIRATE WIN STREAK WITH 4 HIT SHUTOUT
San Francisco’s Juan Marichal dominated the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing no runs on just four hits, to stop the Bucs cold, 6-0.
Marichal’s legendary control was on display as he didn’t walk a single batter. He struck out four. Willie Stargell had the most success against him, collecting a pair of singles.
Offensively, for the Giants, Dick Dietz had a home run and a double and Willie McCovey and Tito Fuentes added two hits apiece. Luke Walker(3-2) took the loss.
Pittsburgh is off tomorrow, May 6th, then heads to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers in a three game series.
