ROBERTSON’S 8TH INNING HR GIVES PIRATES, 4-3 COMEBACK WIN

Luke Walker started for Pittsburgh and was solid for five innings. The Bucs got a run in the first and Gene Clines homered for the first time this season, in the third, so Walker took a 2-0 lead into the sixth.

He gave up four straight singles and was charged with three runs. Mudcat Grant came in and worked an inning, then gave way to Bob Miller, who went two innings.

In the top of the eighth, Rich Hebner drew a one out walk, then Bob Robertson clouted his 12th home run, to give the Pirates a 4-3 lead.

Dave Giusti came in an pitched a 1,2,3 ninth inning to clinch the victory. WP-Bob Miller(3-0). LP-Mike Marshall. HR-Gene Clines(1), Bob Robertson(12).

The series concludes tomorrow, with Bob Johnson facing Ernie McAnally.
