GM# 42 MAY 25, 1971 VS CINCINNATI REDS
PIRATES OUTHIT 14-6 IN 8 TO 4 LOSS TO REDS
Bob Moose found himself in a 2-0 hole after the first half inning, but Pirate fans brightened when a red hot, Bob Robertson smacked a three run home run in the bottom of the first, giving his team a 3-2 lead.
The good feeling would not last, however, as Pittsburgh’s bats went cold and Cincinnati’s stayed hot. The Reds banged out fourteen hits against just six for the Bucs and went on to win, 8-4.
Though Manny Sanguillen had a good day at the plate, going two for four, he had back to back passed balls, one allowing a run, as Cincinnnati tacked on two more in the top of the ninth. WP-Ross Grimsley. LP-Bob Moose(2-4). HR-Bob Robertson(13).
