BLASS SPINS SECOND STRAIGHT SHUTOUT. BUCS WIN, 3-0.
Steve Blass tossed his second consecutive shutout, blanking the Chicago Cubs, 3-0, as Pittsburgh improves to 32-16. Blass now has a scoreless inning streak of 22. Blass allowed six hits and only struck out three, while walking two. He had to work out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth inning, to preserve the shutout.
Roberto Clemente had a single and a double and Willie Stargell hit his fifteenth home run of the season.
