BUCS DROP FINAL GAME OF SERIES TO CARDS, 7-5

Pittsburgh battled, getting three hits each from Dave Cash and Gene Clines, but the Cardinals never trailed in this game, eventually pulling out a 7-5 victory in the third and final game of the series.

Nellie Briles suffered his first loss in relief of starter, Bob Johnson. Briles allowed three runs in two innings, kicking off the top of the seventh by giving up three straight singles.

Matty Alou and Ted Sizemore had three hits apiece for St. Louis. Joe Hague had a home run. WP-Don Shaw. LP-Nelson Briles(4-1). HR-Joe Hague.

The Pirates will host the Houston Astros in the final series of their home stand, before heading out on a ten game road trip.
