STARGELL’S WALKOFF SINGLE STARTS HOMESTAND OFF WITH 4-3 WIN
With the score tied 3-3, Roberto Clemente doubled with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, then Willie Stargell singled in the game winning run, as Pittsburgh defeated Montreal, 4-3, to earn their sixth straight victory.
Clemente had himself a day, going 4-5 with a pair of doubles. The aforementioned Stargell had two hits, as did Jose Pagan and Bob Robertson. Robbie had a pair of two baggers. Luke Walker started and went six innings, but Dave Giusti got the win in relief. WP-Dave Giusti(2-2). LP-Claude Raymond.
