PIRATES FALL TO METS, 2-1, IN ELEVEN INNINGS

Ed Kranepool and Mike Jorgenson hit back-to-back doubles, in the bottom of the eleventh inning, to give the New York Mets a 2-1, victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, who have now dropped five straight.

Nelson Briles took the loss, the third time he has lost out of the last four times he has toed the rubber. Steve Blass started and pitched six scoreless innings, however, he received zero run support. Al Oliver had three singles and a walk, all for naught.

Dock Ellis will try to right the ship against Jerry Koosman, in the final game against the Mets, before wrapping up the road trip with a four game series against the Chicago Cubs.
