REDS BELT 3 HR’S AGAINST ELLIS IN 5-3 CINCY WIN
Lee May clubbed a pair of solo home runs and light hitting Tommy Helms smacked a three run clout, as Cincinnati took it to Pirate ace, Dock Ellis, 5-3. Jim McGlothen went six innings plus, to earn the win.
The Pirates got a homer from Rich Hebner and a three for four day at the dish, from Bob Robertson, in a losing effort. The two clubs go at it in game two, with Gary Nolan squaring off against Bob Johnson. WP-McGlothen. LP-Dock Ellis(9-3). HR-Hebner(6), Lee May 2, Tommy Helms.
