The Cincinnati Reds got to Bob Johnson early, rocking him for five runs in just three innings. Pete Rose was a menace at the top of the order, going four for five, with two doubles. Woody Woodard had three singles, while Tony Perez and Johnny Bench had two hits apiece. Bench scored three of Cincinnati’s runs. Gary Nolan went the distance for the Reds.
