MAYS HOMERS OFF GIUSTI AS GIANTS BEAT BUCS, 3-2 IN 10 INNINGS
Willie Mays smacked a two out, home run off Dave Giusti, in the top of the tenth inning, as San Francisco beat Pittsburgh for the second straight day, this time, by a 3-2 margin.
With the Giants leading, 2-1, Gene Alley homered off Frank Reberger, tying the game in the bottom of the ninth. Dave Giusti took over for Mudcat Grant, who had pitched a clean, top of the ninth for Pittsburgh. After retiring Chris Speier and Tito Fuentes, Giusti hung a curve to Mays, who deposited it into the left field seats. Rich Robertson set the Pirates down in order, to earn the save. Manny Sanguillen was hit by a pitch in the first inning and had to leave the game. Milt May replaced him and ended up with a 2-4 day, including a home run. WP-Frank Reberger. LP-Dave Giusti(3-4). The final game of the home stand wraps up today, as Juan Marichal is scheduled to pitch against Dock Ellis.
