ROOKIE KISON CONTINUES TO AMAZE BY TOSSING 3RD COMPLETE GAME
Pirates rookie sensation, Bruce Kison, continues to be the story of the National League East. In his major league debut, Kison was bombed, allowing six runs in just an inning and a third.
In his four starts since then, he has pitched three complete games, two of them shutouts and missed a perfect game by one single.
Kison’s latest triumph was a 4-1 complete game three hitter over the San Francisco Giants.
Roberto Clemente stroked his tenth triple of the year, scoring two runs, while Willie Stargell singled and doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Dave Cash returned to the lineup after two weeks of military reserve duty. He was 0-4, with a walk, but he handled several chances at second base. WP-Bruce Kison(3-1). LP-Gaylord Perry.
Game two in the series pits Bob Johnson against Don Carrithers.
